Schedule a Test Drive

By Devin Nichol

Overview

Foureyes (The company i work for) sells a product for car dealerships that sends emails to internet car shoppers based on the shoppers interests. The goal of this project was to take this product a step further and give car shoppers the ability to set up a test drive right from these emails. Making an effortless transition from email marketing to in-person sales opportunities for dealerships. See the 3 step form design below.

Process

This idea had been floating around the company for a year or so. One day the Product Manager and I sat down to make it a reality. We worked together to find the requirements. I then took those and made a few iterations of wireframes (see below) and flows. After we had settled on a wireframe/user flow, I created the high fidelity mockups. I then passed those assets over to our developers to make the design a reality.

Outcome

We successfully launched the product and is actively being used by clients. After a few weeks of tracking we discovered that there was only a 10% completion rate. In an attempt to solve for the low completion rate, I converted the one page form into a 3 step low cognitive load version (This is the version you see in this project). With the expectation that this would increase the completion rate. This new 3 step version is up next for development and we will be reporting on the results soon.

This also launched a few weeks before the pandemic, so we had to quickly pivot and create a "test drive from home" version for our clients. The main difference in this version was the language used and added zip code field to see if the customer was in their eligible region.
